One person has the power to make a massive difference in someone else’s life.
For me, it was Bob. My stepdad who was a marathoner and passed away from cancer in 2025. After he passed I decided to start running in honor of him. 408 miles later, in December, I realized what happened. Bob was the type of person who didn’t make excuses. It didn’t matter the circumstances, he put his head down and got to work. He had his reasons for running, and I can’t possibly know the depth of it, but he had a battle to win inside, much like all of us. Running was his way of improving himself.
The thing I respected most was that he didn’t care who knew about his accomplishments. You wouldn’t even know he ran marathons unless you asked him. He, in my eyes, embodied what I refer to as an “Anonymous Warrior”. Someone who fights for something without the intention of ever receiving recognition for it.
I realized in December that there are people like this in all our lives. Anonymous Warriors who inspire us to raise the bar. I went from being someone who didn’t run at all to signing up for my first ultramarathon. My entire path changed. It doesn’t stop there either - I witnessed several others who started raising the bar for themselves because of the type of man Bob was. It’s a chain: we call it the Chain of Legacy. One person inspires someone, that person chooses to act on inspiration, and they go on to inspire others. One person can change the lives of many without even knowing it.
Most Anonymous Warriors remain unknown to the the world. I built Anonymous Warrior as a way to honor these people, to inspire people to take action in their lives and amplify the Chain of Legacy.
