We have met hundreds of runners and what I have confirmed is this: Running and Reason go hand in hand. It is the common thread behind all skill levels, from someone competing in their first 5K all the way up to an elite-level ultra runner.
Here’s the truth: It is rare to find someone that runs for no reason at all, it sucks way too much. People run for the mental and physical benefits. People run for themselves: sometimes for their past self, their future self, or to prove themselves wrong. People run for others: their kids, a friend or family member who inspired them, someone who passed away.
I learned this by meeting all of you. At our race booth we have a sign. It reads: “Are you running for someone today?”. There are cards next to it for runners to write down a name. They hang it up on our banner to honor whoever they wrote down. These cards aren’t just names. They are stories. They are life. They are deep reasons for someone to keep going. Runners tell us their stories and what ties them all together is the reason this post exists: Purpose.
You, the running community, are shaping this brand. Your purpose is what gives Anonymous Warrior meaning. It is an amazing feeling to be building something that shines the spotlight on your story, your “why”, your purpose.
Keep going. Keeping killing it out there. Remember why you run and who you do it for. You’ve come a long way and you’re not even close to being finished.
